Blue Room, Johnson Administration

This photograph of the Blue Room was taken by James P. Blair on May 4, 1966 during the Lyndon B. Johnson. The Blue Room is located on the State Floor of the Executive Mansion. The oval parlor has been known as the Blue Room since Martin Van Burens 1837 redecoration. The room is often used for receptions, photo opportunities, and during the holiday season is home to the official White House Christmas Tree. George P. A. Healy's portrait of President John Quincy Adams is seen on the wall while the Minerva clock from Thomire & Co., acquired during the James Monroe administration, is seen atop the mantel.
